I know! It's the chicken again (and so soon, too). This week's Illustration Friday topic is "Momentum" and it fits perfectly. It had to be posted again. My little chicken has to have momentum to make it up that hill- especially with that rickety old wheel. Poor chicken.

Illustration Friday time again! I was going to show an intaglio print I did a few years ago, but changed my mind. I think it's always better to try something new. Original is acrylic and ink, approximately 6.5 inches x 8.5 inches. As usual, click on image for larger view.
I'm seeing a few things that I would change if I did this again, so perhaps I will try another version. There is something to be said for working in digital I guess.

I did my senior thesis on children's art. My own art from childhood has proven just as valuable to my education as the four years of formal training I received in college. In the end, I learned that I would rather draw things as they appear in my mind. Waaaaay more exciting (and mysterious).
I'm also including a self portrait that I drew right before I turned 4. That was 1981. Check out the elbows and knees. Hehe.

I've got a new and very empty blog, so I decided to participate at Illustration Friday. This week's assignment is "phoenix". I chose the bird not the city. I used acrylic paint and pen on board. Approx. 5 inches by 7.5 inches.
