CPSIA Issue

Unfortunately, very little is being spoken or written about the new CPSIA law. What is out there is difficult to decipher even if you have a law degree.

What started out as something well meaning has grown into a huge mess that will put thousands out of business if something isn't done.
If I'm tapped, I will have to stop offering prints that could be defined as a children's product. That, of course is subjective. Yay.

Hair Transplant

My apologies in advance to anyone who Googled and has never even seen a craft blog on purpose. This hair transplant is not for you.
We had a very sad looking little bear who was in desperate need of some new hair.

We (I say this like I had any input LOL) picked out some blue yarn from the pile of currently unused supplies (TM) and I went to work. It only took about 5 minutes to complete if you don't count all the times I had to stop for parenting emergencies.

It's a very 80's result with the wave and all. Good thing that stuff is back in. Next I should make her leg warmers.

One More Today Just For Fun

This is "Blue Bird With Red Mittens" and the composition is directly stolen from my "Tree and Underwear" piece. The printed surface measures 9x7 inches. The original is 10x8 and is ink, acrylic and graphite on hardboard. It (like all my prints) has been posted in my Etsy shop

In other (non Etsy) news, I am almost done with a larger (2x4 foot) painting that I have been working on for a very very long time. As soon as it's hung in place, I'll take some photos and post them.

Two New Winter Prints

This one is called "Winter Bunny" and the printed dimensions are 4.5x9 inches. The original is 5.5x10 inches on hardboard. As usual, acrylic paint, graphite and ink. I totally know that bunny prints don't actually look like that. In my imagination they do.

This one is called "Snowman". Next time I should make a snowWOMAN. The printed image measures 7x7 but the original is 8x8 on hardboard.

Red Bird and Tree In Snow

More winter for you! This one was done on hardboard using acrylic and ink and graphite. It's crazy cold here in Minneapolis, so inspiration for all things snowy is in abundance.

Red Bird and Two Pines

I just posted this in my Etsy Shop (where I'm still running a Buy 1 Get 1 for all prints). The original was created on board using acrylics and ink and graphite. The printed image measures 7x7 inches.
Outside is an ice rink, so I'm grateful to have plenty of things indoors to keep myself occupied. That means more listings are arriving soon.

Glitter!

Being a mother of small children (four and almost three), our holiday decorations have been...sparse. It's difficult to decorate when the "helpers" are undoing all the work. Last week, I got tired of staring at our sad tree with nothing but a gold ribbon wrapped around it and we made some ornaments.
Yes, there is still glitter all over the place, but it was worth it.
In fact, we still have about a dozen more to do. We rolled the pine cones in a puddle of school glue and then sprinkled with glitter. After they dried, I tied a white ribbon around them and hung them up. By now, I'm sure half are missing. One of the helpers thinks they are throwing toys.

Indie Holiday Shopping

There is still plenty of time left to order things online. If you haven't already, I HIGHLY recommend taking a chance with an independent artist/crafter/designer/cool person.
Etsy is a great place to start.

Shopping from smaller venues (ie one man/woman operations) means personalized service.You'll be able to find very unique gifts. Sometimes you can even order things customized.
Many shops are willing to gift wrap and even ship to your giftee.

That's my PSA for the week. Next time I post there will be glitter and crafty things.

Fingerless Gloves

I have been wanting to learn how to knit, but my "to do" pile (including an afghan I've been crocheting forever) says I have to tie up some loose ends before starting yet another project. I love the idea of fingerless gloves because I'm freezing cold even inside the house yet I cannot bring myself to don a pair of choppers because...yeah. The beautiful pair above is from Corpseknit. Some shops call them "wrist warmers". I say if you need warm wrists, wear longer sleeves.

This is the first time I've had a sale and I'm not sure how long I will run it. I'm sure that I will end it on a whim soon enough. This holiday season the market dictates that I make some concessions and I don't mind a bit. Lower prices are a good thing right now. I'm frankly still thrilled to see gas under $2 in our neighborhood.
