I love color and I'm always on the lookout for new and interesting combinations. Sometimes I swipe them from magazine ads and other times, it's more mundane. Perhaps a smashed blueberry next to a half eaten cracker on the hardwood floor will do the trick. It's hard to say.
If I am really stuck, I can take two routes. Often, the impulsive side of me will just keep mixing random colors and adding them until I have clown vomit instead of art. Those pieces are sometimes fixable, but mostly end up in the trash. Trying to "fix" art can be crazymaking and I have too many other things to do. The most wise (and least wasteful) course of action is to use a color fan (or color deck) to choose colors if I don't already have a photo or fabric to draw from. They are sold anywhere you buy house paint and are really useful if you plan to choose wall colors as well (in that case, I recommend getting the color fan of a GOOD paint brand).
Okay, time for me to sweep the floor and mop up the blueberry guts.
